Did you know ? Michael J. Fox replaced another actor as Marty during the filming of Back to the Future!
You might not know it, but Michael J. Fox replaced another actor as Marty McFly just before filming began on Back to the future ! A bit like this improbable object which could have replaced the DeLorean to travel in time … Directed by Robert Zemeckis, this feature film is one of Universal Pictures' biggest hits, and even had two sequels. It is precisely the president of the studios, Sidney Sheinberg, who wanted to choose the interpreter of the young hero. Originally, it was therefore Eric Stoltz who was chosen (or rather imposed) to play this character, before he is dismissed and replaced. The actor still did a month and a half of filming in the role of Marty before the decision was made to remove him from the project!
Marty
It turns out that his method of acting did not fit at all with the type of character he was supposed to play. Eric Stoltz had immersed himself body and soul in the role of Marty by responding only to the character's name and wearing the hero's clothes to get to and from the set! While this seriousness won him the admiration of the team, it had negative side effects. Certainly, Back to the future is a science fiction film, but it is also and above all a comedy, which relies on Marty's interactions with the rest of the protagonists. However, Eric Stoltz was not funny! Knowing that in addition, his behavior offended some of his co-stars, including Thomas F. Wilson (Biff Tannen), this explains his departure. And to find out which character from movie has been re-cast neither seen nor known , it's right here!
