It all started with a joke JK Rowling made about Godric Gryffindor in Harry Potter.

If the Potterheads are resourceful when it comes to imagining the craziest theories on the characters of the saga Harry Potter , sometimes it's awkwardness JK Rowling who feeds their imagination. Indeed, it is not uncommon for the author's statements, sometimes mysterious and sometimes absurd, about the franchise to be taken literally. This was notably the case with this hypothesis on Godric Gryffindor which claims that the founder of House Gryffindor is not actually dead. No, the latter would indeed be alive and would live in the form of a giant squid in the Hogwarts Lake .

Yes yes, you read that right! According to some fans, the iconic Hogwarts co-founder would therefore still drag his old carcass through the halls of the school in the form of a powerful Animagus. A theory reinforced by the fact that in the books a giant squid actually lives in the peaceful depths of the lake. The reason ? JK Rowling once openly declared that the mollusk was the Animagus form of Godric Gryffindor . Comments unfortunately taken at face value by some fans of the franchise, forcing the author to deny the theory that was then being born. Going back on her words, the latter stressed that it was a big joke on her part. Except that too late, the damage was done. Some Potterheads have since been convinced of the immortality of Godric Gryffindor! Also check out these other fan theories of Harry Potter failed or even mocked by JK Rowling .
