While Phase 4 is reunion time for most of the Avengers, what about Shang-Chi and the Eternals?
Doctor Strange in Spider-Man 3 , Star Lord in Thor 4, Love & Thunder , or Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange 2 , phase 4 of the MCU seems more than ever under the sign of crossovers. This is without counting the various appearances of characters that we can discover in the series soon to be broadcast on Disney . Enough to suppose that these happy reunions will not be aimless, and that they should lead to a formal reunion of the Avengers. However, it is not only the “old ones” who will be back, and phase 4 will be an opportunity to introduce new faces including Shang-Chi and the Eternals. What could be their place in this new stage of the MCU?
With Black Widow , Shang-Chi and The Eternals will be part of the first three films of phase 4. The new venus will therefore open the ball, which suggests that their introduction will undoubtedly be intended to announce, or at least suggest, the major events that will come afterwards. A logical exit order that is reminiscent of Captain Marvel , arrived just before Avengers Endgame . The film allowed us to discover the story of Carol Danvers, her link with S.H.I.E.L.D, but also to realize the extent of her powers. Captain Marvel was nonetheless a classic origin story that was ultimately linked to the rest from the MCU only by Nick Fury's pager, seen at the end of Avengers Infinity War .
It seems likely that Shang-Chi and The Eternals will serve to introduce the heroes to the public, before including a final element connecting them directly to the future events of Phase 4. For the moment, the red thread plot of this new chapter of the MCU remains a mystery, even if many clues suggest that she will be centered (if only partially) on the multiverse.
