Anakin Skywalker’s shift to the Dark side of the Force is perhaps a direct consequence of the educational methods of the Jedi.
Anakin Skywalker’s shift to the Dark side of the Force has been a highlight of the Star Wars saga . The young Jedi knight was indeed supposed to be the chosen one, the one to restore balance within the Force. It was without counting the insurmountable trauma represented by the death of his mother, pushing him to do everything to not lose Padmé. If he was seduced by the dark side and the Sith, it is also because he struggled to control his anger, his fears and his anxieties, in the face of dreams that never ceased to haunt him. However, as underlined by a hypothesis shared by CBR , if Anakin had so much trouble understanding and controlling his emotions are also a little because of the Jedi.
Indeed, the teaching of the Jedi Knights is largely based on a perfect mastery of emotions. It is for example forbidden to act under the influence of anger, or even love. In a way, rather than teaching the Padawans how to handle their inner storm, the Jedi Masters instead prefer to turn emotions into something to be avoided at all costs. If this teaching has been successful for more than one Jedi , it ultimately didn’t work out with Anakin. It is true that despite his talent, the young Skywalker sometimes gives the impression of being completely overwhelmed by his feelings and lacking in advice. The other Jedi seem rather there to chastise or berate him, but not really to help him move forward. Maybe a less conventional method could have worked better for him. Darth Vader will be back in the series Star Wars spin off Obi-Wan Kenobi , in which he will once again be played by Hayden Christensen .
