Star Wars: Darth Maul Returns, Luke and Leia Skywalker's Place …. This is what George Lucas' Final Trilogy might have looked like

The last Star Wars trilogy could have been very different if it had been directed by George Lucas!

The last Star Wars trilogy concluded almost a year ago on the big screen. Led by J.J. Abrams and Rian Johnson, however, the last episodes received a mixed reception from the fans, the latter criticizing one of their favorite saga for borrowing too much from the first trilogy or even to the Disney universe. However, things could have been very different if George Lucas had piloted the project. Indeed, the site The Direct revealed via a Reddit user that many details could have been changed, starting with the choice of the main antagonist. The creator of the Star Wars saga would actually have made Darth Maul the number 1 enemy of the last trilogy, thus apprehending him as a true Lord of Crime.

The latter would have formed an alliance with his apprentice Darth Talon, most of the action focusing on the one we nicknamed “the new Darth Vader” . Indeed, the power of his powers was matched only by the cruelty of his master whose return has been teased many times in the saga. If

the origin story of Darth Maul could be explained in the new trilogy Star Wars , the Skywalker epilogue, however, would have been partly similar to what the latest Disney trilogy offered. According to George Lucas, Leia would have been in charge of rebuilding the Republic, more specifically attempting to keep power out of the hands of intergalactic thugs while Luke would have attempted to re-establish the Jedi Order.

If in the final trilogy Luke failed to maintain the teaching of the Force, The Direct reveals that George Lucas actually intended to make the character triumph, in order to allow a new Jedi generation to found the New Republic with General Organa at its head. This would later turn out to be the Chosen One, 4270423 the prophecy of The Phantom Menace may have been misinterpreted and thus change everything . That being said, the George Lucas trilogy appears to be quite different from that produced by Disney. Being only a few years after the events of Return of the Jedi, the last episodes would therefore have focused more on the Skywalkers, and not on new characters like Rey, Finn and Poe Dameron. A choice that would have been finally interesting to observe on the big screen, although series like The Mandalorian could help us to see more clearly on the vicissitudes which marked the galaxy after the victory of the Rebels against the Empire.
