The Ascension of Skywalker introduced many Force powers into the Star Wars saga. The opportunity to make these new capabilities canons!
The last Star Wars trilogy introduced many abilities still unknown about The Force. Whether it is the Jedi, the Sith or the Knights of Ren, these characters have helped redefine the Force. A unique aspect of the trilogy driven by Disney which however owes a lot to the extended universe of the saga. Indeed, all these powers originally made their debut in non-cinematographic works belonging to both current canons but also to Star Wars Legends . However, although these skills were first seen in comics, video games and television series, the latest trilogy gave these new powers a prominent place by canonizing them. Something to reinvent the apprehension of the Force, especially in The Rise of Skywalker .
The essence transfer is the method that ultimately explained Palpatine's survival in The Rise of Skywalker . . ) Although this technique was poorly explained in JJ Abrams' film, Darth Sidious actually transferred his consciousness to another body, as this mechanism allowed him to survive after the Return of the Jedi . If the cloning on Exegol was brought to light from the first minutes of the film, it should be noted that this power was used for the first time in an almost identical way in the series of comics Dark Empire, the comics proving in particular that Sidious had learned the secrets around immortality from his master, Darth Plagueis.
The dyad between Kylo Ren and Rey is one of the major originalities of the last trilogy. Introduced in The Last Jedi , this symbiosis between the characters was consolidated during The Rise of Skywalker , their special bond allowing them to ultimately defeat Darth Sidious. This connection through the Force manifests itself in many ways and symbolizes a unique power . However, this is not the first time that such a strong bond has been presented between two characters. Not to mention a dyad, Darth Sidious had in some guns of the saga exploited the connection between Count Dooku and Yoda in order to switch the latter to the dark side, while the Star Wars Legends had maintained an unprecedented relationship between Revan and Bastila Shan or Meetra Surik and Kreia.
RESURECTION BY FORCE
This power is one of the effects of the dyad between Kylo Ren and Rey. At the end of The Rise of Skywalker , Ben Solo was able to bring Rey back to life by tapping into the heart of their bond. In the canons, Force healing is not a power that a Dark Side follower can use, this could also explain Kylo Ren's redemption. Although this is the first cinematic appearance of the Force Resurrection, this power was also seen in the Disney series, The Mandalorian or in Star Wars Legends , although this ability is used differently and is specific to certain Jedi.
