The Mandalorian season 2: episode 8, Din Dajrin and Baby Yoda cross paths with a famous Jedi, our verdict

Warning, SPOILERS!

If you haven't yet seen episode 8 of The Mandalorian season 2 , a tip, leave this page as soon as possible and log on to Disney to watch it before reading this article! Indeed, this final chapter of the adventures of Baby Yoda and Din Djarin ( Pedro Pascal ) includes a surprise of size … Of which we will obviously speak to you here. This week, we find our bounty hunter accompanied by Cara Dune (Gina Carano) and the duo Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison, who would have joined the cast of the series Obi-Wan Kenobi ) & Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen). Determined to recover Grogu before he is emptied of his blood by Moff Gideon's cloning expert (Giancarlo Esposito), the small troop needs additional reinforcement. We do not attack the Empire with four people (even ferocious): there are limits!

So they stop off at the bar where Bo- Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff) and her sidekick love to have a good time. At first doubtful, the heiress to the throne of Mandalore agrees to accompany Din Djarin by learning that he knows where Moff Gideon is, and therefore the black saber she wants so much Possess! After this quick detour, the team draws up a plan, and manages to dodge the enemy's defenses. As soon as they arrive in the spaceship filled with Dark Troopers and Stormtroopers, a fierce struggle begins between the two camps. Unsurprisingly, the Empire's soldiers are falling like flies under the rebels' blaster fire! On the other hand, red-eyed androids are much tougher, and our heroes will need the help of a famous Jedi to defeat them …

If you haven't guessed who we want to talk about, end of the suspense: it's none other than Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) that we find in this episode 8! With his hood pulled down over his face, his lightsaber securely held in his hand, Darth Vader's son is making his comeback to the screen. Rejuvenated version, since the plot of The Mandalorian is located after the original trilogy, released in the years 70 and 80. It's strange to see this iconic character from Star Wars undergo such a facelift thanks to the special effects. The miracle of CGI! Admittedly, the actor's face seems botoxed and unnatural, but it is impossible not to experience a pleasurable feeling when seeing him appear before our eyes, “in the flesh”.

The unexpected appearance of Luke Skywalker isn't the only interesting element in this finale directed by Peyton Reed -which we already found at the helm of episode 2 of The Mandalorian season 2 . The Dark Troopers, whose threat we glimpsed during the kidnapping of Baby Yoda, are as relentless and terrifying as an army of Terminator! The Disney robots copy those of James Cameron with success, since they manage to freak the spectators as much as the characters in the series who are unfortunate enough to find themselves in front of them. Besides, without the intrusion of the Jedi, not sure that the bounty hunter and his acolytes would have made it. As for Moff Gideon, like any villain, he is well punished for having attacked an innocent being. An end of the season that lived up to our expectations!
